Sanjay Gala

Founder & CEO

Sanjay Gala spearheads SMARTe Inc., as the Founder and CEO, is his second venture as an entrepreneur. A Sales and Marketing industry veteran, Sanjay’s passion for innovation drove him to bootstrap SMARTe.

Initial forays into software programming helped him explore the limitless realms of technology. He started SMARTe where he deployed software solutions to automate sales and marketing data management and provide operational excellence embedding state-of-the-art technologies, research expertise and best practices. Today, he knows this industry in and out, and recognizes the strategic impact it has on businesses and organizations.

Before founding SMARTe, Sanjay was VP at Verticalnet, where he managed the Western Region Sales. This stint was a follow-up to a successful entrepreneurial venture at an Enterprise Software start-up company, Zycus Inc. As the Cofounder and Executive VP at Zycus, Sanjay built and managed field sales, business development and marketing operations. He was instrumental in building a profitable company and grooming it to a 125 people strong company before moving on. Earlier in his career, Sanjay has worked in several Networking and Semiconductor start-ups. Sanjay holds a MBA degree from Golden Gate University, San Francisco and a Masters in Science from OSU, Stillwater.

Parul Gala

Vice President – Product Development Parul Gala is responsible for Product Development and Operations. She has a proven record of accomplishment and a passion for the web and internet technologies in design, development and managing web related projects. Parul combines her technical expertise, people management skills and process oriented working style to deliver high value add to the business solutions and customers.

Parul has extensive work experience as Web Developer and UI Developer with start-ups like Chingari and Connexus Corp, also large corporate like Agile software and PayPal. Parul holds a Bachelors degree from University of Mumbai and Computer programming associate from De Anza College, Cupertino.

Samrat Roy

Vice President – Business Development Samrat currently is responsible for the Business Development and client relationship management for the European and North American region. Samrat Roy brings over 7 years of experience in international business development, research and knowledge process outsourcing.

Prior to joining SMARTe, Samrat was in charge of European business development at Datamatics, a knowledge process outsource providing research, market intelligence and analytics services to the publishing, media, online media community, etc. In addition to Datamatics, Samrat has previously worked with GE Capital, Vendor Financial Services and Cheers Interactive as Business Development Manager. At Cheers, he played a critical role in growth of company from a startup stage to multi-million dollar revenue and 170 persons. Samrat is a commerce graduate from Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration, Calcutta University and an MBA from Institute for Technology and Management, Mumbai.

Ashish Saharia

Tech. Lead

Ashish is a founding member of SMARTe Inc., and has been responsible for various technological advancements and innovations here. At SMARTe, he develops algorithms and system architectures, and sometimes even writes code to implement them. He is currently leading a team of bright, young software professionals, to develop machine-learning based text mining systems to automate contact discovery from the World Wide Web. He has worked with a wide array of technologies, and has been engineering robust, extensible, and efficient software systems for more than 8 years now. He holds Edsger Dijkstra in high regard, but really misses the ‘goto’ statement in Java. His interests include Physics, Photography, and Electronics, among various other things. He holds a Master’s Degree in Information Technology.
